Types of Custom Software We Build

Most projects fall into one of six shapes. Many systems combine two or three of them.

  • Operations & back-office systems

For teams that run the business on spreadsheets, email and a tool that no longer fits. One system for the workflow, the roles and the records.

    • ERP-style workflows for orders, loads and transfers
    • Approval flows and task assignment
    • Role-based access and audit trail
    • Reports tied to the source records
  • Applied AI & Workflow Automation

When people spend the day moving data between tools, reading documents or answering the same questions. AI and automation take the routine steps inside the system you already run.

    • Document intake, extraction and classification
    • LLM assistants grounded in your own data
    • AI agents for routine steps in existing workflows
    • Approval flows with a human in the loop
  • Integration & API platforms

When the value is in connecting systems: banks, payment providers, data sources and the finance tools you cannot replace.

    • One API in front of many providers
    • Open-banking and payment integrations
    • Data sync between ERP, CRM and finance
    • Event-driven integrations and webhooks
  • Data & analytics platforms

For teams whose product is the data: ingested from several sources, cleaned and shown to the people who use it daily.

    • Ingestion and cleaning pipelines
    • Market analytics, maps and filters
    • Dashboards and exports
    • Data APIs for partners
  • Mobile apps for field teams & customers

When the work happens away from a desk: drivers, merchandisers, learners and customers on the move.

    • Field-worker apps with tasks and reports
    • Customer apps with accounts and payments
    • Offline mode and sync
    • Web admin for the office side
  • New modules for an existing system

When the core system stays, but a new workflow, role or product line needs software it cannot provide.

    • A module next to your ERP or CRM
    • A new role or partner flow
    • Replacement of one legacy screen at a time
    • A shared data model for the next module

Business Domains We Know Well

We understand the processes, data and regulations of these domains. They are where we have the most experience, not the limit of what we build.

  • Fintech

Teams building payments, accounts, lending operations or a back office around regulated financial data.

    • Payment and account workflows with an audit trail
    • Portals for operations, partners and end customers
    • Open-banking and payment-provider integrations
    • Access control and logging for data that cannot leak into a generic SaaS tool
    Case: Open banking API integration
  • Proptech

Property data, agency and asset teams that need their own view of listings, comparables and market records.

    • Ingestion and cleaning of property data from several sources
    • Market analytics, maps and filters for people who use the data daily
    • Portals for internal teams and external partners
    • Reporting that stays tied to the source records
Case: UK residential property data platform
  • Edtech

Course, coaching and corporate-learning teams that need lessons, assessment and an admin side in one product.

    • Learner applications with video, audio and progress
    • Self-assessment and the path that follows a result
    • Admin for content, cohorts and course analytics
    • Accounts and roles for learners, tutors and operators
Case: eLearning tutoring app for business owners
  • Logistics

Carriers, freight platforms and operators who coordinate loads, transfers and the people who move them.

    • Dispatch, load and transfer workflows in one system
    • Driver and dispatcher mobile apps
    • Freight search for trucks and loads
    • Status, roles and reports for depots and partners
    Case: ERP for logistical operations

Engagement Models

Four ways to work with us. The model can change as the system moves from the first release to a long-term roadmap.

  • Fixed-Price Project

A fixed budget and full responsibility on our side for delivering a well-defined scope: price, timeline and acceptance criteria are agreed before development starts.

    • Documented requirements and stable scope
    • A module, portal or integration with clear acceptance criteria
    • Procurement that needs a fixed figure up front
  • Product Development

We bring as much of our expertise as the product needs: analysis, architecture, design and engineering. Flexible terms let the scope follow what users and the business learn.

    • A new product or system with evolving requirements
    • A partner who proposes solutions, not only executes tickets
    • Time-and-material budget with regular reprioritisation
  • Delivery Team

A cross-functional team that delivers as part of your release flow: your backlog, your tools and your release calendar, with delivery quality owned inside the team.

    • An ongoing roadmap with an in-house product owner
    • Extra delivery capacity as one accountable unit
    • Work that has to fit your existing ceremonies and releases
    Dedicated development team
  • Staff Augmentation

Engineers with specific expertise join your team to reinforce it: Java, cloud, data, QA or AI. You lead the work; we handle selection, administration and replacements.

    • A skill gap your team cannot close quickly
    • Your technical leadership and processes stay in charge
    • Scaling up or down without recruitment lead time

When a Custom System Is the Right Build

A packaged product is enough when your process matches the product. Custom software development is the right build when the process, the data or the audit trail does not fit a standard tool: a payment flow with your own checks, a property dataset you license and reshape, a course model that is not a generic LMS, a yard or a freight desk with its own rules.

  • The off-the-shelf tool would force the operation to change.
  • Customer, learner or shipment data cannot sit in someone else's tenant without a clear boundary.
  • The product needs your integrations, not a connector list chosen by the vendor.

How a Project Runs

Four stages take the system from the first conversation to the roadmap after launch.

  • What we do:

    • Map the process

We map the process, the roles and the data you already have, including the exceptions your operators handle by hand.

    • Draw the boundary

We agree what is in the first release, what is out, and what a later phase would add.

    • Estimate and team

You get an estimate for the agreed slice, a risk list and a team sized to that scope.

    • What you get:

      • First-release scope
      • Estimate and risk list
      • Wireframes of key flows
      • Team plan
  • What we do:

    • Working software early

Builds land on a shared environment. You review them against the process, not against a slide.

    • Integrations first

Integrations are connected while the screens are still cheap to change.

    • Quality gates

Code review on every change, automated tests in CI and security checks before each release.

    • What you get:

      • Shared backlog
      • Demo every sprint
      • Progress report
      • Managed change requests
  • What we do:

    • Move the data

Records move from spreadsheets and old tools into the new system, checked against the source.

    • Roll out

A staged release with access and roles configured for every team that uses the system.

    • Hand over

Documentation and notes your team needs to run the system from day one.

    • What you get:

      • Production release
      • Migrated data
      • Documentation
      • Access and roles in place
  • What we do:

    • Keep it running

Monitoring, fixes and support under an agreed SLA.

    • Take the next queue

New roles, partners and reports land as new scope on the same codebase.

    • Change the model when needed

When the backlog outgrows a project, the work moves to a delivery team on your roadmap.

    • What you get:

      • SLA support
      • Monitoring and alerts
      • Release plan for the next phase

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you need from us to start?

The process as it works today, who uses the system, which tools must stay, and what the first release has to change. A full specification can come later. A bounded first release cannot.

How long is a first release?

It follows the slice we agree, not a fixed company promise. A portal or a single workflow is shorter than a multi-role operations system with several integrations. The estimate is part of the scope step.

What is different about fintech work?

Access, logging and the path of customer or payment data are part of the design, not a checklist added at the end. Integrations are often a bank, a payment provider or an open-banking API, with a sandbox before production.

Can we start with one module?

Yes. One workflow, one portal or one integration is a normal first release, as long as the data model can take the next module without a rewrite.

Who owns the code?

You do. Source code, infrastructure definitions and documentation are transferred to you under the contract.

Can you work with our existing systems and team?

Yes. We connect to the ERP, CRM, identity and data tools you already run, and can work as a separate team or next to your engineers under your process.

What happens after the first release?

The same team keeps the system running and takes the next queue: fixes, new roles, new integrations. When the backlog outgrows a project, the work moves to a dedicated team.

Which technologies do you use?

Mostly Java and Spring, Node.js and Python on the backend, React, Vue or Angular on the web, native or cross-platform mobile, PostgreSQL and the major clouds. The stack follows your constraints and the team that will maintain the system.
